RANGE GLOBAL GOODS

It was June 2022. We were in Crete, celebrating our 10-year anniversary. It took a lot to get away. An expedited passport. Clients given fair warning. The kids and dog shuttled off to Mimi’s. We sat on the patio of a locally-owned winery, enjoying a late lunch and tasting. The conversation at the table adjacent to ours, starting out with niceties, took on a more desperate tone. The American importer grasped at attempts to convince the winery owner that he should be the sole U.S. distributor. Cringing at the negotiations, easily entertained, and in between sips, one of us flippantly said, “We could do that better.” That ‘what if?’ turned into ‘when?’ more quickly than we imagined. Five months later, with bold naiveté, we turned our love of travel into a business. At a basic level, we sold globally-sourced goods. But our mission was bigger than that. We wanted to inspire our neighbors and customers to book the ticket, take the time off, and see the world with fresh eyes.

Over 18 months we sourced hundreds of one-of-a-kind goods from Morocco, India, Guatemala, Mexico, Portugal, and beyond. Through our sourcing we were able to support mothers and families, makers and young creatives. When new-to-us customers would walk through the doors, we’d often hear, “I’ve never seen anything like this before.” And that was the point. Though the brick and mortar closed when we relocated, the partnerships and inspiration to buy less but better lives on in our home and many others.
